Authentic collectible piece. craftsmen had a long tradition going back to the beginning of century of creating hand painted Matryoshkas nesting dolls.
How enchanting is it to know that from a single block of wood, the amusing surprises kept in every nesting doll spring into life. Crafted through traditional carving techniques, the skilled craftsman sculpts the block of wood into smaller oval figures. Often times a babushka (grandma), an iconic character, is illustrated in these nesting dolls. New themes were later added to blend into the dynamic fashion of the arising generation. These themes included images of celebrities, religious icons, festivities, and even famous destinations.
